Workshop students and other travelers may camp at the Solar Living Center in Hopland, CA. Campers are required to register and must complete a camping reservation form, including Parking Pass, Camping Pass and Policy Agreement.

CAMPING FEES:  $25 per night/tent and $35 per night for RV (space available in main parking lot, NO HOOKUPS). Bathrooms with toilets and sinks, an outdoor shower, and rustic, outdoor kitchen facilities are available. Call ahead of time for availability and set-up info.  Please bring a flash light or headlamp.

DISCOUNT RATES: SLI members and workshop attendees camping prices are $10 per night/tent and $15 per night for RV.

The entrance gate locks between 6-8pm.  If you are arriving later - give us a call so we can expect you and can provide access details.  Campers arriving after hours must pay in advance in order to recieve the entrance code. Call our office at (707) 472-2460 during normal business hours (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm) or email us for preregistration.

NOTE: Bring your own camping supplies. The Real Goods Store onsite carries some camping items such as soap, shampoo, towels, cookware, utensils and drinks and snacks.  Their hours are 10-6 and 10-5 in the winter.

Please keep in mind that our site manager and his family live onsite as do the SLI interns, so campers must be respectful and quiet. The residences are located in the southeast and southwest corners of the Solar Living Center, and are considered private.  Thank-you.

Offsite Camping

 Below are camping options that are within 45 minutes of the Solar Living Center, Hopland CA. Campers are responsible for scheduling with the sites below. Fees may have changed.

 

 

 

 

Lake Mendocino/Coyote Dam - 25 minutes north of Solar Living Center near Ukiah and Talmage.  Over 300 campsites divided into 3 major areas. $30/night for a lakefront site, $25/night for a non-lakefront site, Chekaka campground is $20/night with no flushable toilets or showers. Group sites (25 or more people) are not currently available but may become available later in the summer.  A boat ramp is accessible. North Cow Mountain Recreation Area - 30 minutes north and east of Solar Living Center near Ukiah.  Twenty-two tent sites, most sites have picnic tables, fire grates/BBQs, and basic toilet facilities. Redwood Empire Fairgrounds RV Park - 20 minutes north of the Solar Living Center in Ukiah, CA. 40 spaces, all have water and electricity, some have sewer. Full hook-up RV is $30/night. RV club and senior discounts available. No tent camping is allowed.  Stay limit 2 weeks. 1055 N. State St. For more information or to make a reservation, call 707-462-3884. K.O.A. Kampground – 30 minutes south of Hopland and about 20 minutes from Cloverdale.  60 acres situated among oaks & pines in hills of northern Sonoma County. Pool, spa, fish pond, miniature golf, store & playground. Tent sites from $45/night, camping cabins 1 room - $80/night and 2 rooms - $90/night.  RV sites w/full hook-up from $55/night, lodge from $190-$260/night. Dutcher Creek RV Park and Campground - 20 minutes south of Hopland.  Tent and RV sites available: 25 acres in wine country, just one-half mile off Highway 101, surrounded by trees and nature. Pool, laundry, showers, and wi-fi are available. Tent or RV-$35/night for 2 people with full hook-up. Sheldon Creek Recreation Site - 40 minutes from Hopland.  6 very rustic tent sites with pit toilets and fire grates/BBQs available. No running water is available. No reservations, no fee. Narrow one lane, dirt/gravel road to campground. Stay limit is 14 days. Contact BLM at 707-468-4000 for more information or check out the website.  East from Hopland about 2.5 mi.  Turn right onto Old Toll Rd. and go about 8 mi. (last 5 are gravel) from the turn. No facilities on Old Toll Rd.
