Come enjoy an overnight stay with us at EcoTerra in Mendocino County! Our eco-lodging accommodations include a tiny house and cob “Hobbit hut” – both made from natural or reclaimed materials – and traditional campsites. The property also offers several communal spaces for guests – a hammock grove, an outdoor kitchen and dining area, indoor and outdoor showers, and a fire pit.

As an overnight guest at one of our eco-lodging accommodations, you’ll enjoy unchaperoned exploration of much of the site, nightly views of the Milky Way, and the opportunity to connect more deeply with EcoTerra, its residents, and other guests. These eco-friendly accommodations are available for individuals and groups.

Tumbleweed Tiny House

The Tumbleweed Tiny House is a compact 89 square-foot, self-contained building on wheels. The tiny home was completed in 2013 by a group of our interns. Downstairs features a compact kitchen and sitting area with a table made from an old photovoltaic panel. There is also a small shower downstairs. The loft upstairs is where you’ll find a cozy, full-sized bed.

Hobbit Hut

The unique decor of the Hobbit Hut is one of a kind! It is made out of cob, a natural building material using subsoil and straw, so it stays nice and cool in the summer and is warm during the winter. There are bottles and stained glass embedded into the cob walls which create a beautiful light effect inside during the day. LED lights are inside the bottles and stained glass, which creates a spaceship effect at night. The Hobbit Hut has a living roof which provides excellent insulation. As a natural building, it is fittingly located in the middle of a flower pollinator garden.
