About Ben Siebert
Ben's wife says that his entire 30 yr career has been building up to this
moment, when clean solar power has finally become affordable for everyone.
He started working with his dad in construction during summers when he
was just 10 yrs old. Since then he has been involved in all aspects of
general construction, from simple remodels to designing and building small
apartment complexes.
Energy generation and conservation has been on Ben's heart for 25 years. In 1983
he opened his first company, installing home weatherization measures and
insulation through the state's ZIP Program. After a short time as a pilot
operating a flight school and air taxi operation, he returned to the energy
conservation industry by developing a new line of super low energy consumption
lighting, resulting in several patents and trademarks. After selling that
company, he spent the next 4 years living off-grid, mainly from using solar
panels and a wind turbine combined with his super efficient lighting. He
doesn't only install and consult on solar energy products......He's lived
it.
Since then Ben has also founded SailingCats.com, a catamaran-only
yacht charter company, formed a consumer electronics company, and has had
a real estate development and management company since 1990. Most recently
he was a general partner in Nova West Solar, and is the founder and CEO of
Planet Solar inc.
Ben also has a Commercial Pilot's License, a Coast Guard Captain's
license, and is a certified Rescue Diver. He has been a heavy metal drummer,
but now brings a funky element to his church bands, and loves sailing with
his wife and two children.
