Home Solar Living Center
Visiting Us  Tours of the Solar Living Center allow people of all ages to learn about a wide range of fascinating topics, from solar and wind power, to environmentally friendly building materials, to passive and active solar design in architecture, to organic gardening and permaculture. Solar Living Institute office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time. The Real Goods Store hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, 7 days a week. Watch a video of our 2009 Outside Events Intern Frost Keaton, who is being interviewed about the Solar Living Center, the intern village and organic garden. Self-Guided Tours WHEN? Any day of the week between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM (Closed 12/25 & 1/1). WHERE? Information Kiosk near the parking lot. HOW? Pick up a free self-guided tour brochure and visit 44 points of interest on the 12 acre site. Guided Tours for Individuals and Families WHEN? First weekend in February until the weekend before Thanksgiving Friday WHERE? Information Kiosk near the parking lot. WHAT? These fun and informative tours last approximately 50 minutes. Suggested donation of $3 per person or $5 for a family. HOW? Must pre-register for a tour to guarantee that a tour guide will be available upon arrival. Register here for a Guided Tour Kid's Educational Field Trips A visit to the Solar Living Center gives students the unique experience of engaging with exhibits & our interns in a way that examine a range of ideas about renewable energy and sustainable living. These tours are available by arrangement for students in grades K-12. Click for more details & how to request a Kid's Ed trip. Professional Tours Specialty tours, led by senior staff or technical instructors, are available for professional associations, special interest groups and college level classes. These tours, which last approximately one and a half hours, provide a stimulating technical exploration of renewable energy and sustainable living in a format that can be custom tailored. Professional tours are available Monday through Friday by appointment only with a 2 week advance notice. Cost is $10 per person with a $125 minimum.
