Hosting Work/Trade

The Solar Living Institute would like to offer you the opportunity to take our workshops for free. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are available to host a series of workshops over the next several months in the Greater Bay Area. This is a great way to expand your knowledge and skills, network with like-minded people, and boost your resume while earning credits to attend future SLI workshops.

What is "hosting?"
Workshop hosts are responsible for setting up, supporting, and cleaning up after a workshop.  These hosts are representatives of the SLI and are expected to go above-and-beyond the call of duty to make sure that a workshop's instructor and participants are provided the best possible environment for instructing and learning.  The Institute provides comprehensive training to hosts so that they are fully prepared to meet the requirements of the job!

Hosts are responsible for arriving one hour prior to a workshop and staying at least a half an hour after the conclusion. Besides minimal set up and clean up, hosts also distribute curriculum materials, assist the instructor with minor duties, and ensure evaluation forms are collected from each student.  The work load is relatively small and hosts are able to participate in no-cost learning which is typically valued at approximately $120 per day --- a great deal for all involved and a good way  to help the SLI with its educational mission.

How it works:
For each workshop day that you successfully host, you will receive a credit to attend a 1 day workshop for free. Not only will you be earning credits to be a student, you will also be able to sit in on workshops that you are hosting.

We need people who are:

  • exceptionally reliable and responsible;
  • passionate about sustainability and want to expand their knowledge and skills;
  • and are able to represent the Solar Living Institute in a professional manner.
